My goodness, long time between posts:   It's been over two years since I've posted anything here! The life of a VMS manager when the system they're managing is in maintenance mode and is being decommissioned is rather mundane, however I haven't forgotten VMS, and have updated the links to VSI's new documentation set in my examples. Are we getting closer to the bug?:   In my previous post which was terrifyingly over six months ago, I again touched on the issue that I described way back in June 2014 about directory renames sometimes producing catastrophically incorrect results. XQPERR crash on 8.4 solved!:   The XQPERR crash I reported and reproduced has been acknowledged by Engineering: "We debugged the reproducer ... and found that a bug got introduced as part [of the] SYMLINK enhancement on 8.4". Engineering have provided me with a new version of F11BXQP.EXE, which appears to fix the problem. Now I just need the official kit so I can install in production. For reference, the Quix case is QXCM1001219891. (68 words, 1 comments, 0 pings)

XQPERR crash on 8.4 reproducer?:   Recently I published a XQP crash footprint on IA64 8.4. The cause of the crash is quite strange, and appears to be something not correctly handling FCBs describing a directory index being placed on the LRU buffer list. (440 words, 1 comments, 0 pings)
