A crash on the Itanium:   I have been compiling COBOL source code on the Itanium here under OpenVMS 8.1 and COBOL T2.8-1340 and while everything has been rather successful (over 1000 programs compiled without any unexpected compiler issues), I have managed to crash the machine twice with a SSRVEXCEPT at PROCESS_MANAGEMENT_MON+2C360 while running the COBOL compiler. Porting code:   I have now successfully ported all my C code written for my current employer to OpenVMS 8.1 running on an Itanium based server, including one user written system service and one executive mode hack, and some true kernel threaded stuff. (184 words, 1 comments, 0 pings)

rx2600 booted:   I've successfully booted the Itanium-based machine I have here. It was a bit of a struggle to get a bootable disk constructed to do the VMS install, but after moving a drive around between carriers, and using a bit of sneaker net, I finally managed to get an install to happen.
