Déjà vu all over again

There are certain things that you find writing for customer after customer. Disk space utilization monitoring with warning and alarm thresholds seems to be one of them.

I've just written a nice generic monitoring facility to send e-mails to technical support personel when disks get too full. This is really a stopgap measure until the company switches to OpenView (presumably picking up disks via SNMP).

The requirement for this came up after a faulty application program generated a rather large report, filling up the reports disk, and due to some design issues, halted the critical online application. Go figure.
