Flying to Orlando

Today I flew to Orlando Florida to attend HP's National Storage Days. This is a two day event focusing on SAN, NAS, and other things storage.

Just as I got out of bed, my pager went off letting me know that the production front end machine that has been giving us problems over the last few days had halted again. This made it rather a scramble to get to the airport on time. Consequently, I left my hotel confirmation information on my coffee table.

On takeoff from Sacramento International Airport, the Airbus I was on made some highly interesting maneuvers. The pilot shortly thereafter informed us that they had had to avoid other traffic. I think a few passengers were retrieving their stomachs from the ceiling.

After a quick stopover in Phoenix, I flew on to Orlando, where I discovered the missing hotel confirmation, and spent an hour on a public phone finding out where I was supposed to go, as I couldn't remember the name of the place.

It turned out to be the Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center. Wow, what an amazing place.
