Benchmarking disk subsystems

Shortly, it appears that I will be performing benchmarks on StorageWorks and a Symmetrix frame from EMC. I'm not too thrilled about having to do this, because if the EMC solution is chosen, I will have to do a significant amount of modification to hundreds of command procedures that we use to track and monitor our (presently, 100%) StorageWorks installation.

I have resurrected some code that I wrote a few years ago to do I/O per second measurement on disks. I have been looking at the timing sections in the code, and realised that they really need some work.

At the same time, I am converting the call to $QIO to use the fast I/O package available in OpenVMS since 7.0.

When it's all done, I think I will post it on my downloads page.
