IBM has the right idea:   and are working to enhance the visibility of z/OS. HP have had the same software capabilities in OpenVMS for a long time: TCP/IP, web services, Java, etc, etc, but are terrible at promoting the benefits of the operating system. Come on, HP. Take a lesson from you main rival and start doing some of the things mentioned in this article. The alternative is watching OpenVMS become even more marginalized than it already is. HP shows Carly the door:   HP has asked Carly Fiorina to step down as chief executive officer. There had been some indications that this was on the cards when rumours emerged about HP's board of directors asking her to farm out some responsibilies, which she apparently resisted. Shane Robison:   Just attended the first keynote address at HP World 2003, presented by Shane Robison, CTO for HP. Shane expanded on HP's strategy, but the most interesting thing was a quote he used from Bob Napier, HP's CIO. Bob said that every business decision triggers an IT event. How true that is.
