A crash on the Itanium:   I have been compiling COBOL source code on the Itanium here under OpenVMS 8.1 and COBOL T2.8-1340 and while everything has been rather successful (over 1000 programs compiled without any unexpected compiler issues), I have managed to crash the machine twice with a SSRVEXCEPT at PROCESS_MANAGEMENT_MON+2C360 while running the COBOL compiler. It was a bit of a struggle to get a bootable disk constructed to do the VMS install, but after moving a drive around between carriers, and using a bit of sneaker net, I finally managed to get an install to happen.
