Programmatic path switches:   I'm writing a simple path balancing program for fibrechannel attached disks at the moment. It calls $SET_DEVICEW to perform the path switch. The strange thing is that it runs just fine on development and two of the production clusters, but on one cluster, I get a %SYSTEM-F-SSFAIL exception. (96 words, 0 comments, 0 pings)

Site outage:   An upstream provider from the company that hosts this site experienced a router failure earlier today, and eight-cubed.com was down for approximately eight hours, along with all other domains hosted by said company.
