Aussie legend dies

R.M. Williams died today, aged 95. He was a legend of the Australian outback.

During the Great Depression, camped in the remote Gammon Ranges of South Australia and living off the land, R. M. met an itinerant saddler called Dollar Mick, who passed on his skills.

R. M. began to craft boots and saddles that were in demand on surrounding stations and he realised he had found his vocation.

Over 70 years later, his typically Australian clothing is sold worldwide. His original boot design is still this aussie's prefered dress shoe.
