Flash: Davis wins 2nd term, blackouts start

Yesterday was election day here in the United States. Gray Davis, the incumbent governor of California, was reelected for another term. Tonight, I had a two and a half hour blackout. Coincidence? I think so.

If you don't get the joke, Davis was blamed for extensive rolling blackouts during his first term. These blackouts generally occur during the peak summer months when nearly every Californian and his dog have their air conditioners going full blast.

Tonight's little adventure was probably caused by the severe weather we have had this afternoon and this evening.

An interesting site shows California's electricity system status in near real time.
