Disaster Recovery Test

I have been in New York doing a disaster recovery test for my employer. The test involved restoring four OpenVMS clusters, an IBM mainframe, Sun systems, AIX systems, and some Windows NT servers. The major part of the recovery was the production and data warehouse systems running on OpenVMS. In total, these two systems have approximately 11 terabytes of storage that have to be flawlessly restored.

This is the fourth time I have performed this test for this company, and each time it gets smoother. This time, we had two minor storage glitches on the the data warehouse cluster, which were easily corrected. Not bad considering four years ago, this company had no disaster recovery plan at all.
