SAN Futures

No updates to the page for a while. I have been too busy building things. Like large SAN fabrics. I was in the process of rearranging the three (yes, three) fabrics on the data warehouse cluster here into two fabrics, when I realised I had enough spare switches lying around to build a four switch modified mesh fabric without moving anything on the existing fabrics.

The next task of course is to migrate from the existing fabrics to the new one, then reconfigure the existing fabrics to mirror the new one, and hand back the spare switches. Don't ask where they came from. The guys on the unix team are probably still wondering where they went.

Anyway, there has been fibre cables going every which way, and it's finally all ready to go for a shutdown of the data warehouse cluster this coming weekend. Then I will see how the real performance figures match the theoretical ones.

Oh, if you are an ACLSEARCH user, look out for an update in the next day or so. I have added support for an input file to support searches with lots of access control entries. It should be posted tomorrow for download.
